Kinsale Yacht Club, as it exists today, was established in 1950. It has been the home of the IDSA since it establishment in the 80’s

KYC has become one of the leading yacht clubs in the country. Junior sailing now encompasses Optimists, Lasers and 420's. One design racing takes in International Dragons and Squibs. The Club also supports three very strong Cruiser Classes (Class I, II and III) who now joined by a more relaxed White Sail Fleet.

Kinsale has a splendid, virtually land locked natural harbour on the estuary of the Bandon River, 11 nautical miles South West of Cork harbour entrance about eight kilometres north-northeast of the Old Head of Kinsale. Both the outer and inner harbours cover approximately five square kilometres, providing good shelter and anchorage.

The clubhouse is fully wheelchair accessible with toilets and a shower room for people with disabilities. An accessible lift to the bar and function area on 1st floor is also provided. The marina is fully accessible. A hoist is provided however this is currently out of order and awaiting repair. It is hoped that the hoist will be back in working order before the start of the 2010 sailiing season.
